Raku Firing: Each handmade piece of pottery is glazed and fired in the Raku kiln and removed when the temperature is above 1800 degrees F. It is then set a blaze in paper and covered, allowing the smoldering pieces to "smoke" which forces carbon from the burning paper into the clay body. This dramatic technique involves interactions from start to finish. No two pieces  are alike. The marks of the fire give unexpected results such as metallic and crackle effects  distinctive to the Raku process...Very Exciting!
